Appnovator Spotlight: Jez Proctor

Meet Jez Proctor, our London-based UK Managing Director.

We sat down (virtually) with Jez and found out more about his love for vinyl, making Italian food and empowering others.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love collaborating with teams on client problems and working towards mutually aligned outcomes. I am still in awe of what can be achieved in a team dynamic, the creative thinking, hard decisions, and team effort. When a project launches, there’s a sense of pride witnessing the client and agency so excited about the work we produced. The second phase of that rush comes from a positive response from the audience when the product is live in the market.

What are you most proud of in your career?

How the UK Appnovation team pulls together. We’re a solid mix of professionalism, start-up mentality, toughness and agility. It’s pretty incredible the synergy between the London and Cardiff offices – we’ve created a family of Appnovators based on respect and strong delivery.

What would you like to achieve in your career?

I'd like to see the UK team grow to greater heights, increase our client base and our support teams. I'd like to look back and see some of our more junior Appnovators grow to be our future leaders. There’s something special when leaders come from within, and I am here to mentor that.

What do you love most about working at Appnovation?

I love the fact that all of these people came here for a reason. Every reason is as unique as the individual. In this market, saturated with options, each of us chose Appnovation, and that brings a positive perspective to the working day.

What does being an Appnovator mean to you?

Being able to conquer challenges with a supportive team who are so passionate about putting our best foot forward. There is a lot of reciprocity and we all lean on one another to push through tough challenges and celebrate our successes.

What do you do outside of work?

I collect vinyl, listen to it, look at it, talk about it, make mixtapes with it and bore my children with stories about it. I like to read biographies, eat good food, and procrastinate about doing any DIY or gardening.

The bravest thing I've done is:

Sharing a small one room Airbnb with my two teen kids for a week. In New York. At the height of summer. I learned a lot about mood swings in a short space of time.

I feel happiest when:

Playing music on a Friday evening and making Italian food.

Tell us an awesome fact about you that few people know about:

I had a record released in the early 2000s that was a bit of a hit in Europe – but I didn't get paid!

What’s your personal definition of success?

Being at peace with yourself and your achievements.

What does “being successful” mean to you?

Empowering others – work, family, or friends.

What are you looking forward to learning and/or doing next in your career?

Creating Appnovation UK as a place that sits at the top table in the UK and Europe when clients are considering their digital partner.
