The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre sought to inspire children, youth, and adults to explore Canada, the world, and the universe through an engaging e-learning website. They needed a vendor capable of creating an interactive, visually captivating website to bring their vision of immersive learning to life.
Collaborating closely with the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Appnovation designed and developed a prototype for a universe exploration e-learning website. The project began with a series of video-chat sessions and basic wireframes. Our design team meticulously reviewed these initial wireframes and notes, then created an improved set of wireframes and a refined user flow, bringing the concept to life. The website features interactive, 360-degree photos stitched together, allowing users to virtually explore various areas with immersive drag-and-view functionality. Users can click on identified points of interest to access detailed information written by subject matter experts, enhancing the educational experience.
The final website captivates users with a design that invites exploration. The homepage is both dramatic and simple, featuring bold messaging and a striking image of outer space that immediately directs attention to the main call to action: Explore the Universe. This compelling design encourages users to delve into the content and engage deeply with the educational material. The platform’s success has also strengthened the Space Centre’s digital presence, positioning it as a leader in innovative educational experiences.
