ASCD, a venerable 75-year-old not-for-profit, faced challenges in engaging educators effectively due to an outdated and fragmented website. The site's confusing structure hindered member access to valuable content and growth. ASCD sought a new digital experience to drive loyalty, improve content accessibility, and connect with a new generation of educators accustomed to digital tools. Additionally, their visual identity, over two decades old, needed revitalization to inspire membership.

We initiated the project with user testing using a low-fidelity prototype to validate design hypotheses and member engagement strategies. The successful prototype led to a comprehensive site redesign and migration to Contentful CMS. Implemented in an Agile framework, this approach ensured continuous delivery of finished code. The redesigned site allows members to highlight content, save snippets, read nested excerpts, register for events, and connect with ASCD thought leaders. Simultaneously, we collaborated with ASCD's creative team to overhaul their brand's logo and visual identity, giving it a fresh, modern appeal.

The launch of the new experience yielded significant improvements: a 13% decrease in bounce rate, a 25% increase in pages per session, and a 10% decrease in exit rate. These metrics indicate that users are engaging more deeply with content and benefiting from the enhanced user experience.
